Why Regular Dental Cleanings in Ottawa Are Essential for Your Health

Learn how professional dental cleanings at Riverside Dental Clinic on Walkley Road protect you from cavities, gum disease, and costly treatments down the road.

The #1 Preventive Step Ottawa Residents Can Take

Most Ottawa adults visit the dentist only when something hurts — but by then, minor issues have often become major problems. Professional dental cleanings every six months at Riverside Dental Clinic on Walkley Road remove hardened tartar that your toothbrush simply cannot reach, preventing the buildup that leads to gum disease and decay.

What Happens During a Cleaning at Our Ottawa Clinic?

Our experienced dental hygienists use ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments to gently remove calculus from all tooth surfaces and below the gumline. We then polish your teeth, floss thoroughly, and check for early signs of cavities, gum inflammation, and oral cancer — all in one convenient appointment.

Gum Disease: Ottawa's Silent Oral Health Epidemic

Studies suggest that over 70% of Canadian adults show signs of gum disease at some point in their lives. Left untreated, periodontitis has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and premature birth. Regular cleanings at our South Ottawa clinic are your first and most effective defence.

How Often Should Ottawa Patients Get a Cleaning?

For most healthy adults, every six months is ideal. Patients with a history of gum disease, smokers, or those with diabetes may benefit from cleanings every three to four months. Our hygienists will recommend a personalized schedule based on your oral health assessment.
